Yoga sequence for Colds

Because of Covid I think we are all aware that the winter months our immune system is weaker. I have known this my whole life because I am an asthmatic, when I was a child I would spend time in hospital during the colder months because of my ‘weak’ lungs. When I moved to London in my early 20’s I would be on steroids alongside my inhaler because of my asthma mixed with london pollution and cycling to work on cold mornings. Since doing Iyengar Yoga for the past decade I don’t even use an inhaler anymore. When I last had a health check in 2020 they said my lungs were the age of a 21 year old which I was thrilled about as that’s over 10 years younger, it made me as happy as if I had just got ID’d for alcohol. It used to be said that our lungs never recovered from smoke damage but there is a lot more science around cell recovery and the ability to improve your lungs, not that I was a smoker but I definitely have felt this as an asthmatic doing yoga and pranayama (breathwork)

During the winter when our immune system is compromised, one of the things that I do regularly is the sequence for colds that can be found in The Path to Holistic Health BKS Iyengar. Every Friday lunchtime over the winter months we will do poses from this sequence to help our immune system so come and join me online, you can book in here.
